If aerial combat is your thing, WT may be worth a try since it’s the only real game in town. It is kinda nice that WoT and WoWP share free xp and gold, but most players just use that to get gold and free xp from events in WoWP to use in WoT, heh. They’ve been doing updates, but it doesn’t have a large or growing playerbase. Now, when it comes to planes… World of Warplanes is on life support. For a while, it was easy to recommend WoWs for naval warfare fans, but lately their monetization has been a bit unhinged and they have been making a lot of poor balancing choices with their attempts to introduce submarine warfare into the game. I haven’t messed with the naval side of WT, but I’ve heard it isn’t that great… at least as of a couple years ago when I last thought about trying it. WoT is complicated in its own right, but the RNG/arcadey nature of it takes the edge off and gives it a bit more of a casual, approachable feel in my opinion. I’ve tried getting into War Thunder a few times, but honestly it just feels so … sweaty. /r/wotmemes for meme posts that aren't on Mondays./r/TankPorn for all things Tanks and Armoured Fighting Vehicles./r/worldoftanksconsole for Xbox and PS4 players. If you're new, read this guide and then this one.Apply for a flair here! Lincoln announced that 80 limited-edition 2019 Continentals would be made with "coach" doors, marking the Continental's 80th anniversary. The most recent mass-produced model with such doors may be the Opel Meriva, followed by the Rolls-Royce Cullinan in 2018, and a few Chinese electric vehicles including the Singulato iS6 in 2018 and HiPhi X in 2020. Other luxury models with rear-hinged doors include the Spyker D8 and the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe four-seat convertible. In 2003, the new Rolls-Royce Phantom car reintroduced independent rear-hinged doors in luxury vehicle applications. The French, hand-made Facel Vega Excellence offered a four-door hardtop with a Chrysler-sourced Hemi V8 beginning in 1954. German Goggomobil saloons and coupes had two-door bodies with rear-hinged doors until 1964. The British Rover P4 used rear-hinged doors at the rear. The best-known use of rear-hinged doors on post-World War II American automobiles was the Lincoln Continental 4-door convertibles and sedans (1961–1969), Cadillac Eldorado Brougham 1956–1959 four-door sedans, and Ford Thunderbird 1967–1971 four-door sedans. Īfter World War II, rear-hinged doors were mostly limited to rear doors of four-door sedans. Rear-hinged doors were especially popular with mobsters in the gangster era of the 1930s, supposedly owing to the ease of pushing passengers out of moving vehicles with the air around the moving car holding the door open, according to Dave Brownell, the former editor of Hemmings Motor News. In the era before seat belts, the accidental opening of such doors meant that there was a greater risk of falling out of the vehicle compared to front-hinged doors, where airflow pushed the doors closed rather than opening them further. Rear-hinged doors were common on cars manufactured in the first half of the 20th century, including the iconic Citroën Traction Avant. Note that all four doors are connected to the B-pillars. History The Fiat 600 Multipla with front suicide doors, right side doors open. Automobile manufacturers call the doors coach doors ( Rolls-Royce and Lincoln), flexdoors ( Opel), freestyle doors ( Mazda), rear access doors ( Saturn), or simply describe them as rear-hinged doors. Initially standard on many models, later they became popularized in the custom car trade. As seat belts were not in common use at that time, the risk of falling out of the car and into traffic was high, hence the name "suicide door". Being rear-hinged, if the vehicle was moving and the door opened, the driver/passenger would have to lean forward and out of the vehicle to close it. Such doors were originally used on horse-drawn carriages, but are rarely found on modern vehicles, primarily because they are perceived as being less safe than a front-hinged door. But some Republicans say that Trump helped focus the GOP on deeper issues in the electoral system. To be sure, Republicans have long spoken about the need for enhanced “election security,” a subject that helped lead to the proliferation of voter identification laws, mostly in red states. Fueled by Trump’s false claim that the 2020 election was “rigged,” Republican governors and state legislators have pushed a swath of new voting laws and restrictions.Īt the same time, several Republican candidates in battleground states have refused to say whether they will accept the results of their own contests. That trend has played out among GOP lawmakers and candidates, as well. Even more recently, a Morning Consult survey showed that only 44 percent of GOP voters have at least some trust in the country’s electoral process. A New York Times/Siena College poll released over the summer found that 60 percent of Republican voters believe that Trump was the legitimate winner of the 2020 election. Trump’s efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election were seen by many as the ultimate taboo a self-serving campaign to hold onto power at the expense of American democracy.īut that notion has proved to have staying power within the GOP. “But seeing the way has shaped things now, I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner.” He’s fueled skepticism in the country’s electionsĪ poll worker stamps a vote-by-mail ballot at a ballot drop-off location at the Miami-Dade Elections Department during the primary election, Aug. “If you had told me 10 years ago that we simply weren’t going to participate anymore, I’d say you were crazy,” one former Republican campaign adviser said. “The president, what he did was he took that a step further, right? It’s not just bias. “When Republicans would talk about the ‘liberal media,’ it was about pointing out bias,” the former aide said. One former Trump campaign aide described the former president’s influence as fundamentally altering the way Republicans think about the news and the people who report it. Republicans have long fueled skepticism in the mainstream media, casting unfriendly news outlets and journalists as liberals with their own political agendas that obscure what they see as the truth.īut Trump has driven Republican animosity toward the so-called mainstream media to new heights. The only Bimmers currently offered with manuals in the US are the base, rear-wheel-drive versions of the M3 and M4, as a no-cost option. But when we were left to our own estimates, we rounded the number of units. Also, the full-year US sales data will need to be collected before a more definitive percentage would be available. This can only be an estimate, because the take-rates we get are often rounded and based on historical numbers. In their natural environment, blobfish appear more typical for their superclass Osteichthyes (bony fish). Without the support of the water pressure, a blobfish collapses, and its features become unrecognizable. These pink fish have feathery pectoral fins, large heads, big jaws, and tapered tails. In their natural environment, blobfish resemble giant tadpoles. Adults live between 100 and 2,800 meters (330 and 9,190 feet) deep on the ocean floor, the intense biological pressure to conserve energy in deep-sea fish seems to be true across many. They are found at depths ranging from 300 to 1700 m. They are found in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. The popular impression of the blobfish as bulbous and gelatinous is partially an artifact of the decompression damage done to specimens when they are brought to the surface from the extreme depths in which they live. Lacking thick bones and strong muscles, blobfish rely on water pressure to shape their bodies. So we come to know where does the blobfish live. Among the new species the caught was Psychrolutes marcidus. The team towed gear on the ocean floor in order to net and study different species. The discovery was made by a team of two dozen scientist during their exploration of submarine habitats. It was first discovered around the Norfolk and Lord Howe islands, which are located between Australia and New Zealand. The scientific name is Drymonema larsoni, and was named by former DISL post-doctoral student Keith Bayha. Several of DISL's followers have even messaged to find out more. īlobfish are often caught as bycatch in bottom trawling nets. A pink blob floating in the waters off of Alabama is catching people's attention as they walk along the beach. The blobfish has a relative lack of muscle, but this is not a disadvantage, as its main food source is edible matter that floats in front of it, such as deep-ocean crustaceans. Instead, the flesh of the blobfish is primarily a gelatinous mass with a density slightly less than that of water this allows the fish to float above the sea floor without expending energy on swimming. They live at depths between 600 and 1,200 m (2,000 and 3,900 ft), where the pressure is 60 to 120 times greater than that at sea level, which would likely make gas bladders inefficient for maintaining buoyancy. īlobfish are typically shorter than 30 cm (12 in). It inhabits the deep waters off the coasts of mainland Australia and Tasmania, as well as the waters of New Zealand. Psychrolutes marcidus, the smooth-head blobfish, also known simply as blobfish, is a deep-sea fish of the family Psychrolutidae.
